Kite surfers are hard to photograph

It was very windy at the weekend, so I tootled down to the beach to shoot windsurfers. The sails move so fast it’s difficult to click at the right moment to catch them in the frame at all, let alone in an artful pose. With a strong sou’westerly buffeting me from the side it wasn’t easy to hold the camera steady either, so I just concentrated on getting the horizon level and clicked away. This image cropped off the end of a landscape shot is the best I could find in about 30 shots – better luck next time!

Thanks Ian. I didn’t even know there was a sports setting 😳 . I’ll try it out another time (note to self: read the manual!). I did use the beach setting for some shots, but I’m not sure if this was one of them…
